My daughter was going to another orthodontist and was two appointments away from completing treatment. I had to cancel her appointment due to a medical problem and the front desk staff refused to reschedule her to finish treatment or remove her braces without a note from her doctor. I transferred her care to you and all is going great. Is the other orthodontist’s behavior normal?
Your previous orthodontist decided to unilaterally dismiss your daughter as a patient. While they had that right, they also have an ethical and legal responsibility to provide you with options regarding your daughter’s treatment before they dismiss you. One of those options would be to remove your daughter’s braces before dismissing her as a patient. If anyone reading this column finds themselves in this situation please call my office at 1.800.4BRACES. I can help.
