I received a plan from an orthodontist to fix my overbite by extracting my top middle tooth and placing screws in my upper jaw to bring my front teeth backward. I do not agree with this plan. What should I do?

This treatment approach is commonly referred to as a “camouflage” treatment plan, meaning the plan is to hide your lower jaw problem by taking the teeth on the normal upper jaw and bringing the front teeth backward. It has been used for years, but in my opinion, the results compromise facial balance. New advances in orthodontic treatment make this “camouflage” plan too invasive.
